I got a phone call from a very cordial egbon of mine who was among the very many who flooded the streets of Lagos to demonstrate the fury Nigerians had over the increase of fuel price from N65 to N141 by the federal government. His call was basically a request to properly brand the placards being used by fellow protesters as what they had held were basically cardboard papers with words they have in mind/wanna pass across written with a marker.

It's getting more prettier to know that I can deliver video contents worth viewing globally.
Sometimes last month, I posted the featurette I got on the National Theater modeling tutorial I did and posted on my vimeo page. This time around, my tutorial on Exporting 3d data from 3ds Max to After Effects + Part 1 and 2 which i did almost a year ago has caught the limelight again.

Quite alarmingly, Part 2 of this video has 1643 views while Part 1 has 931 views; I expect that this video will be as interesting and fascinating as the previous one.

iPad created Animation

My use of iPad for doing animation has being on the increase of late. After sulking about the shortcoming of Animation Creator HD for ipad which were undos limited to just three; just limited to 3 layers; no redo; onion skinning doesn't show the next frame - in all, I have gotten used to it and gotten over it.
With no idea at all what the animation will turnout to be, I came up with this.

I got a mail from zpixel this morning on another feature on Evermotion, another website I so much adore, even so much more back then!
As zpixel posted as a comment, I am more than grinning ear to ear on this development - and even though it's a bit too early to leak some things I am currently working on in this light, have it at the back of your mind that I have made mention of something massive here and now!

It really made my week and made me weak.

Modeling National Theatre, Nigeria! - Going International!

Twas one of those Tuesday when I wake very early in the morning, hoping to beat traffic on time and hit my desk before 7am. I got to my desk and realised I unusually have a higher number of unread mails compared to days before.

And then my eye popped to see this mail from 3dm3 of my tute posted on their website - my heart skipped!

Back in my university days, 3DM3 was my internet meal. Memories of how my room-mate who did me favours taking me his pops office for some Internet juice couldn't understand my obsession for Internet, especially for CG inclined resources. That being said, I guess you have an idea of how excited I felt to be contributing to once was (and is still) my role MODEL.

Watching THUNDERBOLT - MAGUN again after about 4-5 years gave me a nostalgia on our lifestyle way back then; the solemness, subtle, humble, innocent and easy way of life enjoyed back then. This gave rise to this mock I developed even out of all my very busy schedule.

In all honesty, after grabbing my copy of ARUGBA (another block-buster from the stables of Mainframe TV, I collectively grabbed three other classics (Thunderbolt, Saworooide and .... ) and after watching Thunderbolt again, the inspiration for this post came to light.

I get another feature in Smashing Magazine - the third consecutive in a row since inception.
My intent was to play aroudn with something that will be appealing for anyone to use as his/her wallpaper, while not leaving the mission of having it as an illustration.
Having my submissions as visual illustrations for me is very appealing and serves as an internal check to put my drawing to constant practice.

Dammie Adebowale is a friend I met through a friends referal. I got this base mesh from here sometimes back!

Due to some heavy office distractions from my quest to get acquinted with some other personal expertise I have being longering for, I took a one-week annual leave from an ever-bustling Lagos to a calm, quiet and humble Ile-Ife to exploit these desires of mine.

As I was having a challenge with the new ZBrush 4, I decided to have a go at the mesh I got from her!

It can only get better!

NB: The background voice is that of me and my friend, Akinade Gbenga discussing how very perfect some tutorials can be as they do not expose some imperfections. Also featuring is the sound of the UPS.

Over the week, I had a brain wave on modeling Nigerias National Theatre. And as the good Lord would have it, it came to pass on the 10th October, 2010 (10.10.10).

The National Theatre here is one of Nigerias greatest and finest Monument. I did not know this much until I started and got very involved with the details associated with it - a whole lot of symmetry and what have you.

WELL! ... consider this to be a rush with the output having its flaws here and there but hey! ... I love it all the same.

I was going through my blog recently and realised I did not share something here!

It's a montage I did for UBA CEO Awards that ran on their Intranet and as background during the event day.

For me, it was a beautiful experience. Before then, my montages have only being played via Projectors BUT the sight of massive LED displays was another dimension in all. Corrections had to be made here and there cos of the shortcoming the LED Display had with subtle details that added some finesse when viewed using LCD Screens but disappeared completely on that mighty screen.

Think of Wale Adenuga as the James Cameron of Nigeria AND consider Nnena & Friends to be the Disney TV Shows such as so raven.

The overall branding for this popular programme was indeed an exciting one - excitingly rare! Materials for screen and print media. This process carefully studying the practice of such genres of TV Shows website, a strict consideration for who the audience are and appeal to visitors.

The web mock up will be handled in collaboration with Olakunle Ogungbamila of WebNC.

NB: Clearly, I have missed waking up in the middle of the night to cook up designs borne out of brain sparks. I wake up every morning at 4:45am but I was still on the mock till about well past 1am.

Hi All,

In my successful attempt to revive the hard disk from my ol' Desktop, I ran through some memories that made blood run to head. I came across the very first job that got me cash at all - it was a poster I did for JCI back on Campus.

Considering that back then in school, there was a stiff competition to break into teh monopoly of Poster Design which some couple of friends had established an estate in that business but Looking at it again, It still has some element of elegance.

Back in my University days, my departments association (National Association of Computer Science Students) annual week had in its menu a game show which as far as I am concerned was the cherry on the cone. It was during that time when the frenzy of WWTBAM Game show was very much alive and what held our audience (which are students from across all Faculty in the University) spell bound was the realism this application I built using Macromedia Flash 8 and Actionscript 2 was the perfect seamless realism it displayed - sounds were all gotten online; screenshots where taken from the PC Game version; Questions were provided from an IQ Geek - Olumide Oladosu; animation and title sequence were just perfect!

Taking a look at the last published date, my computer tells me this application was created 14th of July, 2006; it all seemed like yesterday!

With the advent of deploying apps such as this on Facebook, I can only imagine the possibility of proper deployment in times to come.

The Battle of the Villages - animation remake

HISTORY
This 32-page comic book was produced by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Kenya with the assistance of teachers and pupils. Using the entertainment-education approach, the comic was designed to reach children in upper primary classes with issues related to international humanitarian law and preventing conflict, as well as the idea that even wars have limits. The booklet includes activities for pupils and a teachers page with suggested lessons at the end.

The comic book tells the story of two neighbouring villages, Ama and Zuta, who have been engaged in a bitter and long conflict. No one remembers how it all started but each village blames the other. Once peaceful neighbours, in Ama and Zuta many lives have been lost and property destroyed because of the conflict. According to the publication, "In every country, religion, and culture, we find rules and traditions designed to reduce the suffering caused by wars. These norms are at the heart of International Humanitarian Law, a universal set of rules that protects war victims, especially children and women, and prevents fighters from using certain arms and weapons."

WHERE I COME IN
I was in part 2 in the university when I got my hand on this comic book. It was my quest to join a club, which was becoming a cliché for all my friends who were either in Rotract Club, JCI or the likes. I chose Red Cross - why? 'cos 'twas free! - anyway, I was thrilled with the plot of the story and the character style with which it was drawn. Though I tried something out, my skills set didn't permit me to go all the way - left alone my not having a computer to work with.

Anyway, here we are ... I look forward to a painstaking but rewarding animation production - my first!

From the Kitchen to the Store, from being a sissy to being a more serious whizzo - that is the story of my twitter page.
I decided to give my Twitter page a visit over the weekend in the light of ...nothing really; I made a sketch, vectorize in Illustrator and like it a lot - and the first thing that came to my mind was to make it my wallpaper and twitter background image for the moment. Though I really love and adore my dancing madam as she look more like a Nigerian I wish to be known as, this guy looks like a white dude - well, whatever!

My name is on his head - that's cool for now!

Believe it or not, if you are starting out as a young, aspiring, full-of-energy graphic artist, this kind of life looks like a fulfiling one - cos making the client happy is achieved (even at your detriment). As one who have groomed well in this field, I can tell you that it aint so rosy. I have done some jobs I'm not particularly proud of as a result of the client playing the role of the playing a huge role in wrecking plans you have for them. Don't get me wrong in confusing the fact that I don't allow client communicate their own idea but I think there is a juncture where the clients contribution pauses and the designer takes over.

ANd to now think that ... Hold on ... I have a call from such client.

Gloryland is an haven for senior citizens who would like to carve a niche for themselves in the society. When we had ou meeting, one of teh major elements they sought out for was something more interesting than a staring web page - they looked our for AESTHETICS, INTERACTIVITY, VALUE AND topmost of all, SOCIAL MEDIA FEATURES.

Following my art style I did of myself to mimick the Barack Obama Time Magazien of the Year cover, I also did that of my President as well but took a hault with further development when as at that time, he was yet to be found.

Looking at teh details of that art, it was dated 25th November, 2009. He passed on this morning - 06/05/2010; the fifth of his kind to die in Office.

I guess I might as well just take up a career in character design / animation. I recently found out how excited I can get when it comes to bringing out life from a blank sheet of paper and a pencil - even when I am so hungry as I am right now.

Well, posted along with this text are pencil sketches which will further be inked and coloured in Illustrator to bring out life.

In a bid to create a video with a more child-appeal, I sought to make a mo-graph video made almost entirely of vector graphics pencil-drawn, scanned and redrawn in Illustrator. (The pencil sketches can be seen on my blog).

Though this is an excuse I have to unavoidably give, the main idea started about 4pm yesterday, thursday, 08/04/2010, I would have to say that upload time at about 12:30pm the next day came about this output.

On January 2009, TIME Magazine announced President Barak Obama as the Man of the Year, 2008. What caught my attention with the manner it was presented was the Blue/Red/Pale Yellow Vector art style used to push the message and I must say, caught my fancy.

In that light, I squeezed out time from my schedule to make a similar artstyle of myself.

Not bad I must say, though. Proudly Nigerian!
